El día jueves 1 de abril de 1954, cerca de las 8:40 hora local, el avión de fabricación nacional FMA IAe-24 Calquín, matrícula A.-02, perteneciente a la Fuerza aérea Argentina con base en la IV Brigada Aérea de El Plumerillo, provincia de Mendoza, cuya tripulación estaba compuesta por el piloto Teniente Victor Nelson Antonio Carrillo (Promoción XVII de la EAM, egresado el 10 de diciembre de 1951). Observador: Alférez Hugo Lino Maurizio (Promoción XIX de la EAM, egresado el 10 de diciembre de 1953), producto de una mala maniobra en un vuelo en formación con un similar, se estrella en Campo Funes, partido de Ugarteche, provincia de Mendoza, pereciendo su tripulación:
