El día viernes 16 de junio de 1944 a las 15:00 horas, el avión Martin Modelo 139 WAN registro 3-B-7. Número de serie 693 perteneciente a la aviación naval argentina había despegado de Puerto Belgrano, provincia de Buenos Aires, cuyos tripulantes eran el piloto Teniente de Navio Juan Lula Beltran; Cabo Segundo Artillero Pedrino; Marinero Ezequiel Veláquez y el Marinero Telegrafista Sinforiano; en el momento que estaba realizando maniobras para aterrizar en la Base Comandante Espora el avión capoto, producto del accidente falleció su piloto el Teniente de Navio Juan Lula Beltran y el esto de la tripulación resultaron heridos.
