An Indonesian Army helicopter departed Tarakan-Juwata Airport (TRK/WALR) at 10:54 hours. Last radio contact was at 11:29 when the crew made contact with the Malinau Tower, when 8nm from Malinau.
The wreckage of the helicopter was found on Sunday 27 November 2016. The pilot of the helicopter was found alive and was rescued. Three crew members died in the crash, one crew member is still missing.
The missing person was found alive on Dec. 8. in an area between Long Sulit and Long Berang village with injuries and in weakened state.
