Narrative:
Two persons have been killed in an agricultural aircraft crash in the Hangaroa area. Power to the city of Gisborne was cut off at about the same time as the accident occurred and it is thought that the aircraft may have struck power wires.

The Farmers Air topdressing aircraft piloted by 37-year-old George Anderson of Gisborne, with his loader driver on board, struck high tension power transmission lines at Hangaroa at about 9am on Monday.
The name of the loader driver has not yet been been released. He was also from Gisborne.
A media briefing was told the aircraft flew on for 2.5 kilometres after it hit the wires and crashed in rugged terrain.“The pilot of the aircraft was very experienced,” a Farmers Air spokesman said.
A major search was launched for the plane and it was found by the crew of the ECT rescue helicopter.
The topdresser hit the 110Kv Tuai-Gisborne lines mid-span and brought down six conductors.
“It appears the aircraft was going up a valley and for some reason the pilot did not see the wires,” the briefing heard.
