Narrative:
Bristol Blenheim Mk.1 L6647 of 8 Squadron, crash landed near Wadi Sanam, 15 miles NW of Mashyakhat al-Irqa, Aden (now Yemen), due to engine failure; crew survived crash, but killed by Bedouin Tribesmen

Pilot Officer (40538) Mervyn Osmond Howell (pilot) RAF - killed.
Pilot Officer (39826) Richard John Melville-Townsend (observer) RAF - killed.
AC.1 (541094) Alan Usherwood Smith (Wireless Op/Air Gunner) RAF - killed.

All three crew buried at Maala Cemetery, Al-Ma'ala, Aden, Yemen
