On 11 December 1939 the Bristol Blenheim IF L6740 ("YB-J") of 29 Squadron RAF was damaged beyond repair in a crash at Great Chesterfield Park, north-west of Saffron Walden, Essex. One of the crew of two was killed, the other injured.
