Narrative:
Transavia flight HV1041, a Boeing 737-800, aborted their takeoff from a taxiway at Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport, Netherlands.
The aircraft taxied in a northerly direction on taxiway Charlie to runway 18C. Nearing the end of the taxiway, the flight contacted Schiphol Tower: "Goedendag Transavia one zero four one ready for departure". The controller then cleared the flight for takeoff from runway 18C: "One zero four one goedeidag line up eighteen center, cleared for takeoff." This was read back correctly by the crew: "Line up one eight center, cleared for takeoff one zero four one."
The flight then radioed: "May we take Wiskey two, one zero four one?", referring to the W2 intersection, leading up to runway 18C. However, this intersection is from taxiway D, not taxiway C on which they were taxing. The Tower controller replied in Dutch that this would mean a serious detour: "Ja maar da's wel een eind omrijden."
The flight crew then made the first left turn onto taxiway Delta instead of the second left turn onto 18C and commenced the takeoff. The Tower controller intervened by instructing the flight to abort their takeoff: "Transavia one zero four one stop immediately, stop immediately, hold position."
The crew aborted the takeoff run and taxied back to the beginning of runway 18C, after which the flight took off uneventfully.

It was dark at the time of the incident but weather was fine:
