The pilot of N45N, a Beech UC-45J (18) was on a flight from Whitehorse to Swan Lake in the Yukon Territory to pick up some moose hunters at a hunting camp and then return to Whitehorse. It was reported by someone on the ground that while departing from the 2,000 foot Swan Lake airstrip, the aircraft appeared to lose power and descended to the ground. The a/c came to rest inverted and there was a post-impact fire. The aircraft was destroyed and the 3 people on board are believed dead. Two investigators from the Edmonton office of the TSB are en route to the site. Transport Canada has appointed a Minister's Observer.

2001/09/19 UPDATE TSB reported that the pilot of the Beech UC45J, serial number 43-51312, N45N had just taken off for Mayo, Yukon with two passengers on board. The aircraft crashed into a creek bed just off the end of the runway and came to rest in four feet of water. A post-crash fire ensued. There were no survivors.
