A privately operated Cessna 172, was operating under VFR out of Courtenay Air Park (CAH3),BC with one person, the pilot, on board. While in the vicinity of Estevan Point, the aircraft struck trees and collided with the ground; the pilot did not survive. There was no post-impact fire and the 121.5 ELT produced a signal that assisted in finding the wreckage.
