The Sikorsky S-76C+, registration EC-JES, suffered an incident when the crew inadvertently descended to an altitude of 50 feet above sea level, during a wind check on the Vigo estuary. The helicopter had taken off from the Vigo airport, with a pilot, co-pilot, rescuer, crane operator and instructor on board. In addition to training, the crane operator and the rescuer were to be validated online during the flight. For this, a rescue is carried out in the vicinity of a cliff. When the helicopter was descending towards 500 feet of altitude, positioning itself for the beginning of the training, the crew realized that the aircraft would move at a high speed and only 50 feet above the sea, vendaus obligation to climb regime reversing the descent in which it was lost. The occupants were uninjured and the aircraft undamaged.
