Narrative:
The S-76A helicopter, carrying two pilots and five passengers, performed its start-up procedures on the Líder Táxi Aéreo parking apron at Pampulha Airport.
The pilots decided not to take off from the apron, opting instead to depart from the taxiway.

During taxi, the pilots heard an abnormal noise, which they interpreted as indicative of a compressor stall. The No. 2 engine parameters were abnormal, with the temperature rising rapidly into the red zone, and the “fuel press low” light for engine No. 1 was illuminated.

The captain shut down engine No. 2, and simultaneously noticed that engine No. 1 had shut down on its own. One of the passengers reported smelling smoke. The passengers were disembarked, and shortly afterward, a fire broke out in the area between the main gearbox and the engines.

The pilots activated the engine fire extinguishers, but they were not effective. The airport firefighters were immediately called and successfully extinguished the fire.

Both crew members and five passengers escaped unharmed, but the aircraft sustained serious damage
