Le pilote du Cricri s'apprête à effectuer un vol local VFR. L'instructeur pilote du Cessna effectue des circuits d'aérodrome en VFR avec son élève. Trois contrôleurs sont présents à la tour : le contrôleur sol, le contrôleur local tour et le contrôleur assistant tour. Le Cessna s'annonce en finale, ensuite le Cricri est autorisé à s'aligner pour décollage sur la même piste puis autorisé à décoller. Les deux avions se heurtent en vol en milieu de piste.
