Narrative:
F-AISV CAMS 53 (MSN 05); first registered 16.10.28 (C of R 1961) to Cie Generale Aeropostale, Paris (based St Louis du Senegal, later Marignane, Marseille). C of T when upgraded to CAMS 53/1, with strengthened hull and increased fuel capacity.Aircraft was operating a cargo/mail flight between Algiers and Marseille,when a first takeoff attempt from Algiers' harbour was aborted. During the second attempt, the float plane hit waves, overturned and came to rest inverted. The pilot Roger Feru and the mechanic Georges Deloustal were rescued while the radio-operator Albert Laget disappeared. His dead body was eventually found on January 19, in Algiers' harbour.
