Narrative:Spanish entry in the 12th Coupe Aeronautique Gordon Bennett race. Balloon named "Polar". Struck by lightning and crashed. Co-pilot Pedro Penaranda Barea was killed, pilot Felix Gomez Guillamon was seriously injured. Both men were Spanish Air Force pilots.
