Narrative:
A Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II from the 388th Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base (HIF/KHIF), Ogden, Utah, crashed at the north end of the runway. "Officials said the crash happened while the pilot was on a routine training mission. Five other F-35s from the 388th Fighter Wing were diverted to Salt Lake City International Airport after the crash and will return to the base soon. However, local flying was canceled Friday and there is no set date on when flying will resume officials explained"

The pilot ejected safely. He was released later Wednesday night, officials reported.
