The aircraft took off from Heliponto do Recreio (SDRE), Rio de Janeiro, RJ, at around 13:25 UTC for a scenic flight, with a pilot and four passengers on board. After about thirty minutes of flight, during the final approach for landing, the aircraft lost altitude and collided with the ground in a clearing in the vicinity of the helipad.
Four of the five on board were taken to hospital.
