Narrative:
21 January 2021: UAS DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise substantially damaged when crashed at Carbis Bay, St Ives, Cornwall. The incident was the subject of an AAIB Record-only Investigation, published on 11 March 2021, and the following is the summary from the AAIB Report:

"The UAS was being flown over the sea when the operator observed a battery warning message. The operator tried to bring the UAS back to the takeoff point but, when over land, it lost power and fell to the ground from a height 10 metres. The operator had avoided overflight of people on the beach when bringing the UA back to the takeoff point".

Damage Sustained to UAS:
Per the AAIB, the UAS "fell to the ground from an altitude of 10 metres". It is therefore presumed that the damage sustained was substantial.

Carbis Bay (Cornish: Karrbons, meaning "causeway") is a seaside resort and village in Cornwall, England. It lies 1 mile (1.6 km) southeast of St Ives, on the western coast of St Ives Bay, on the Atlantic coast. The South West Coast Path passes above the beach.
