The ultratlight aircraft crashed in a wooded area near Calle Plan del Mango, Rosario de Mora, San Salvador.
Probable Causes:
A flight with an ultralight, hang glider-type aircraft performed a low-altitude overflight with abrupt climbs, a decrease in speed, followed by dive maneuvers with a high rate of climb and descent, resulting in a crash into the ground. The aircraft was subjected to negative G-forces due to inadequate flight planning and improper use of the ultralight's flight controls.
Contributing Factors:
1) Probable misjudgment and miscalculation of altitude during the execution of the ultralight's recovery maneuver.
2) Exceeding the ultralight's maximum angle of climb and descent, generating both negative and positive G-forces, surpassing the material strength limits of the ultralight and causing material failure.
3) Marijuana consumption can significantly impair the skills needed for safe operation by:
a) Reducing reaction time and decision-making ability,
b) Affecting coordination, and
c) Distorting perception.
