El día jueves 21 de octubre del año 1926 en las primeras horas de la mañana estaban realizando un vuelo de instrucción los pilotos aviadores Teniente Héctor A. Bastiani y Sub Teniente Raúl S. Manniy en una avión Avro 504K perteneciente al Ejercito Argentino, sobre el campo de aviación de El Palomar, volaban a gran altura cunado el piloto Bastiani pedió el control del avión y este se precipito contra el terreno. Producto del accidente el Teniente Bastiani quedó gravemente herido, mientras que el Sub Teniente Raúl S. Manniy solo recibió heridas leves.
