Durante la mañana del día 13 de octubre del año 1925 el subteniente Gaspar Ballerino estaba realizando un vuelo de entrenamiento a 1000 metros de altura, con viento de frente, en un avión Avro 504K número de serie 6, en la Escuela de vuelo de El Palomar, provincia de Buenos Aires, estaba realizando un looping central sobre el ala para descender hasta aterrizar, cuando estaba a 500 mts de altura pudo observar que el avión caía de hoja y a los pocos instantes el avión estaba sin gobierno impactando contra la tierra falleciendo el piloto en el acto.
