El 13 de octubre del año 1958 aproximadamente a las 15 hora local, el avión de entrenamiento Beechcraft B-45/T-34A Mentor registro E-009, nº/serie CG173, cuya tripulación estaba compuesta por el piloto Suboficial Mayor (R) Juan Carlos Otano, acompañado del Mecánico Cabo Principal Francisco Pérez. Mientras realizaba un vuelo de comprobación de instrumental radioeléctrico sobre el Aeropuerto de Córdoba, cae en la localidad de Guiñazú, lindante unos 100 metros hacia el este de los predios del campo de vuelo el entrenador, en posición invertida e incendiandose y ffalleciendo sus tripulantes.
