China Southern Airlines flight 3534, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, received notable structural damage in a hard landing and tailstrike accident on runway 02L at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China.There were no reported personal injuries.
Preliminary information suggested that a trainee pilot's inadequate landing technique played an important role in the accident.
The mishap aircraft has since been indefinitely grounded at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. China Southern Airlines has deemed B-1243 a write-off, according to CAAC internal source, which makes this accident the first hull-loss involving Boeing 787 Dreamliner, preceding the crash of Air India Flight 171.
