Narrative:Operation - Armed recce, part of 2 plane escort.
Aircraft shot down by fighter pilot and Staffelführer of the 13. Staffel/JG 3, Hauptmann Wolfgang Kosse. The Luftwaffe pilot flew Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-9 'weisse 6' from Gütersloh airfield, Germany.
The Typhoon pilot perished, an American serving in the RCAF, J/25085 F/O William Thomas Dunkeld of Pontiac Michigan. He is buried at Jonkerbos cemetery in Gelderland; grave 8 D 3.
