Hawaiian Flight HA457, an Airbus A330-243, was descending towards Tokyo when a passenger's mobile phone battery experienced a thermal runaway event and reportedly caught fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and the device secured. The aircraft continued the flight and landed normally at Haneda Airport with an emergency declaration.
Japan's Ministry of Transport reported a passenger's mobile phone ignited and was secured in a fire proof bag. The aircraft landed without further incident, no emergency evacuation was performed.
