Took off from RAF Downham Market at 21:47 hrs for an operation to Karlsruhe in Germany.
Outward-bound, the aircraft was shot down by the night fighter crew of Oberleutnant Werner Baake & Unteroffizier Rolf Bettaque of the 2./NJG 1, who had taken off from Venlo airfield at 23.26 hrs for a 'Himmelbett' patrol in 'Raum Bazi', in He 219 A-0 G9+BK.
It crashed at Loon op Zand in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant, some 6 km north of Tilburg. Those who died rest in Bergen op Zoom War Cemetery.
