Narrative:When over the Dutch - Belgian border, the Lightning was shot down by Feldwebel Gerd Wiegand of the 4./JG 26, flying an Fw 190A from Florennes airfield. The aircraft crashed at Stekene, with the pilot coming down at Hulst, Zeeland. He was wounded and became POW.
In the afternoon, the USAAF raided the Zukunft power station at Eschweiler, Germany.
The aircraft was on an escort flight operation.
