On 22 January 1942, the Beaufighter Mk.Ic T4786 of 248 Sqn RAF took off at 12:27 hrs from RAF Bircham Newton for a Coastal Patrol sortie to the Dutch coast. It was shot down by light Flak from a Hafenschutzboot off IJmuiden at about 15:30 hrs (or 14:27 hrs according to the Verliesregister 1942) and both crew were killed.

P/O (115920) C.J.C. Walker (obs) RAFVR - killed

Walker is buried in Amsterdam New Eastern Cemetery, Noord-Holland, Holland, while Blennerhassett is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
