Narrative:
Hawker Hunter WT618: First flown 28/7/1954, delivered 7/9/1954 to the RAF at 5 MU Kemble. To 43 Squadron, RAF Leuchars (coded "O"). Note that the code letter was painted in a very "squared off" form, which looks a lot like the letter "D" from certain angles. Hence several sources listing WT618 as "D" of 43 Squadron. Later to the CFE DFLS (Central Fighter Establishment Day Fighter Leaders School) RAF from 4/4/56

Written off 5/6/56: The pilot allowed the aircraft to sink below 50 feet during a practice strike and struck a tall tree. It returned to West Raynham, Norfolk. but was declared a write off.

Formally struck off charge as CAT 5(c) on 14/09/1956
