Ex-RAF Tiger Moth DE256, delivered 10.1.42. Struck off charge 24.10.53 when sold to W.A.Rollason, Croydon. Not converted for civil use immediately, and stored at Croydon until first civil registered as G-APRX 16.1.59.
Sold on and re-registered five times between 1959 and 1968; last owners Cavella Flying Group, Thruxton, from 4.1.68. Written off (damaged beyond repair) 6.10.68, when crashed at Compton Abbas, Dorset.
Wreckage recovered to owners hangar at Thruxton by 1.11.68. Removed from Thruxton to Slingsby Aircraft at Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire for use as a film prop in the BBC Drama Series "Cold Comfort Farm". Registration G-APRX cancelled as "PWFU" ("Permanently Withdrawn From Use" 19.12.68 (presumably retrospectively, as the CAA records note "notified 15.7.69.")
NOTE: Some sources state the the remains of G-APRX were destroyed in the fire which raged through the Slingsby Sailplane works at Kirkbymoorside on 18.11.68.
