Narrative:
Enstrom F-28A G-AVUK was, on 3 December 1975, owned by Gerald Dommett of Fordingbridge, Hampshire, but I do not know if he was flying the helicopter when, that day, it crashed at Thruxton Airfield, Andover, Hampshire, in unknown circumstances. Its registration history is somewhat enigmatic in that whilst all but one of the sources I've viewed concur that the crash of G-AVUK occurred on 3 December 1975, the CAA register records the helicopter being sold to Spooner Aviation, of Shoreham Airport, on 26 May 1976 and its registration being cancelled as 'destroyed' on 20 July 1985.

However I can find no photographs of it dating from after 1975 and one source mentions that the airframe was stored at Shoreham, presumably with Spooner Aviation, in March 1990. Maybe in the 1975 crash it was badly damaged but the wreckage had value to Spooner Aviation, as the UK dealer for Enstrom helicopters, and that although it was not airworthy, it had the potential to become such again and for that reason the change of ownership was recorded by the CAA in 1976 in ignorance of the crash that it had suffered in 1975? Maybe Spooner Aviation never got around to repairing G-AVUK and that this was why the CAA was notified that it had been 'destroyed' and its registration was cancelled in 1985. I have found no evidence of it suffering a second, terminal accident in or about 1985.
