Narrative:“The cause of this accident is unknown. Lt. English was cleared on a local altitude navigation mission. The airplane Lt. English was flying had just returned from an altitude mission and a fresh supply of oxygen was installed and tested. Lt. English was to proceed to Waycross from Tifton and return. Approximately one hour after take off time Lt. English crashed in a woods north of Waresboro. There were no witnesses to the crash who saw enough to give any clue as to the cause. Some said the airplane was spinning other say it was not. The airplane crashed going straight down at approximately 300 MPH. The airplane was demolished and the engine buried about twelve feet.”
