Narrative:
Written off (destroyed) July 26, 1971 when collided with a water tower that was obscured by fog, located 3,000 feet from the end of the runway at Griswold Airport, three nautical miles (6 km) east of Madison, a town in New Haven County, Connecticut. Pilot mistook location of tower. The water tower was not shown on charts; tower taken down after accident.

Aircraft sustained engine failure, and came down in Hammonasset Beach State Park (at approximate co-ordinates 41°15′54″N 72°33′21″W) adjacent to Griswold Airport. Both the two persons on board the aircraft (pilot and one passenger) were killed. According to the following excerpt from the official NTSB report into the accident:

PILOT IN COMMAND - INITIATED FLIGHT IN ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS - INADEQUATE PREFLIGHT PREPARATION AND/OR PLANNING

TERRAIN - HIGH OBSTRUCTIONS"
