Narrative:
De Havilland DH 82A Tiger Moth MSN 83145 (Gipsy Major #83130); Taken on charge by the RAF as T5378 at 20 MU RAF Aston Down, Minichinhampton, Gloucestershire 9.5.40. To 3 EFTS RAF Watchfield, Oxdfordshire 19.9.40. Crashed 29.12.40 (prresumed at Watchfield, Oxfordshire),; to DeHavilland for repairs 6.1.41. To 19 EFTS RAF Sealand, Flintshire 23.3.41. To 24 EFTS RAF Sealand. Flintshire 7.2.42. To 9 MU RAF Cosford, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire 16.7.45. To 63 Group Communications Flight, RAF Hawarden, Cheshire 17.4.52. To 10 MU RAF Hullavington, Chippenham, Wiltshire 8.10.52 for long-term storage pending disposal.

Struck off charge when sold 24.10.53 to W A Rollason Ltd, Croydon. UK civil registered as G-ANPZ (C of R R4556/1) 26.4.54 to W A Rollason Ltd, Croydon Airport, Croydon, Surrey. C of A issued 14.6.54. Registration cancelled 16.6.54 as 'sold to New Zealand'.

Re-registered in New Zealand as ZK-BFX 29.7.54 to Aerial Farming of NZ Ltd, Palmerston North. NZ C of A issued 27.8.54. Badly damaged when struck hillside on take-off near Taihape 22.11.55. Re-registered 15.10.56 to F J McDonald. Re-registered 10.7.57 to Airspread (Taranaki) Ltd, Stratford. Re-registered 20.4.60 to Te Pene Tablelands Ltd, Kaeo. Badly damaged in forced landing near Matauri Bay, Northland 3.6.60; repaired and returned to service. Re-registered 29.4.63 to H de Heus, Auckland. Re-registered 6.8.63 to Weedair (NZ) Ltd, Auckland. Withdrawn from use at Auckland in July 1964 and stored. Re-registered 14.6.74 to Ian Bennie, Auckland; named "Freedom". Rebuilt using some parts from Tiger Moths ZK-BAN and ZK-COU.

Shipped to USA with Ian Bennie in March 1975; rebuilt and first reflown after rebuild 7.4.75. Damaged in crosswind landing Mojave, California 22.6.75 [pilot Ian Bennie]; rebuilt and returned to service. Still as ZK-BFX, this Tiger Moth won the 'International Award' for his restoration work at the Oshkosh meet in 1976. New Zealand registration ZK-BFX cancelled 21.10.76 as 'sold to USA'. US registration N99108 (application dated 19.1.77) 28.3.77 to Robert Elmer Milligan, Las Vegas (application jointly with Ian Bennie, Van Nuys, California; Bill of Sale by Ian Bennie to Robert E Milligan 21.3.77 but probably remained jointly owned). C of A issued 18.5.77; aircraft based at Whiteman Airport, Pacoima, Los Angeles, California). Sold 3.3.78 and re-registered 31.3.78 to Donald R & Gayle N Young, Santa Barbara, CA (aircraft at based Camarillo Airport, Ventura County, California).

Sold 2.4.83 and re-registered 12.7.83 to Wayne S Elliot & Sandra A Elliott, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Badly damaged when crashed during low level aerobatics near Haigh Field Airport, 5 Miles South of Orland, California 5.6.85. According to the NTSB Report into the accident:

"THE PILOT REPORTED THAT DURING A LOOP, THE ENGINE LOST POWER, THEN THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED AN INVERTED SPIN. HE SAID THAT HE HAD GOTTEN OUT OF THE INVERTED SPIN & WAS RECOVERING FROM A REGULAR SPIN WHEN THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE GROUND. ACCORDING TO A WITNESS, THE PILOT ENTERED THE MANEUVER FROM A VERY LOW ALTITUDE & THE ENGINE STALLED AS THE AIRCRAFT WAS GOING STRAIGHT UP. NO PRE-IMPACT PART FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION WAS FOUND. THE PILOT WAS OBSERVED CONSUMING SEVERAL BEERS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. A BLOOD TEST SHOWED THAT HE HAD AN ALCOHOL LEVEL OF 0.145%.

Orland is a city in Glenn County, California. Orland is located 16 miles north of Willows, at an elevation of 259 feet. Interstate 5, (north–south) passes west of the downtown area while State Route 32 (east–west) passes through downtown. Haigh Field Airport (FAA LID: O37) is a public airport located three miles (4.8 km) southeast of the central business district (CBD) of Orland, a city in Glenn County, California, United States. It covers 300 acres (121 ha) and has one runway.

Registration N99108 formally (and belatedly) cancelled by the FAA on 30.5.2013 as "Expired"
