Narrative:
Dived into ground, at Uxbridge, Middlesex, one mile West of RAF Northolt, Middlesex. Pilot Flying Officer Mervyn Seymour Bocquet (pilot) was killed. He was the first pilot to be killed while flying a Hawker Hurricane (having been promoted to a Flying Officer on 15.9.37). According to a contemporary report in "Flight" magazine (February 10 1938 page 141 - see link #5)

"Flying Accidents

The Air Ministry regrets to announce the following accidents:—

F/0 Mervyn Seymour Bocquet lost his life in an accident which occurred at Uxbridge, Middlesex, on February 4, to an aircraft of No 111 (Fighter) Squadron, Northolt, Ruislip, Middlesex. F/O Bocquet was (he pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft"
