Narrative:
China Airlines flight CI027, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, took off from Palau International Airport at 18:11 Taipei local time for Taoyuan International Airport. During curise, a Samsung S6 smartphone carried by a passenger began emitting smoke when the lithium battery likely overheated.
The aircraft landed safely at Taoyuan International Airport at 22:04.

An investigation by the Aviation Safety Council is ongoing.
