The helicopter apparently crashed during a routine nighttime search and rescue training flight. Debris, boots and helmets of the occupants were seen floating in the Pacific Ocean. Four occupants are still missing as of 19th. The Seahawk took off at Hamamatsu at 17:51 LT, and made the last radio transmission to ATC at 17:57. The radar contact was lost at 17:02 LT.
All four occupants are deemed to have died in the crash.
