Narrative:
Flight CVS312 reported missing at 15:35 LT (last contact was at 15:06), and confirmed at 15:45.
The search was focused near Cap Heer, 4 km (2.5 miles) N of the Barentsburg Heliport, where oil had been spotted on the water and a boat’s sonar system had found an object 200 metres (660 feet) beneath the surface.

Helicopter located at a depth of 209 metres, 1.2 nm northeast of Cape Heer. All 8 POB presumed dead.
A remote-controlled submarine is searching for the occupants.
The AIBN has contracted the recovery vessel Maersk Forza, currently en route to Hammerfest.

Oct. 30, One body was recovered from the bottom of the sea, 130 mts from the wreckage, said office of the governor of Svalbard in a statement.

Nov. 3 to 4, Norwegian rescuers lift fuselage. No bodies were inside. CVR was recovered.

Nov. 10, "The on-board parametric recorder BUR, located in the compartment under the tail boom, was found completely destroyed (probably due to a rotor blast of the main rotor)," said the Russian ministry.

The CVR and the GPS-units have been transported to Moscow by the AIBN in cooperation with Russian MAK (Interstate Aviation Committee) for downloading and analysis. All audio files have been downloaded, including the one from the helicopters last flight. Further analysis will continue. Frequency analysis will be performed to investigate any possible technical errors in rotating components. Only one of the two GPS units contained data from the last flight such as speed, altitude and track.

The helicopter has been transported to Hammerfest and transferred to another vessel for transportation to Stavanger, were further investigation will be conducted in cooperation with the IAC and the helicopter manufacturer.

The results from the investigation of the helicopter, CVR and GPS units will be gathered and supplied with further information from interviews, weather conditions, operative regulations, company policies and other information.

Eight persons were onboard. The helicopter was not equipped with floatation gear or life raft, but there were life jackets for the passengers. They were not used.
